About eBaTT
Eli Baraty Academy of Table Tennis (eBaTT)
๐ The Story of eBaTT โ By Eli Baraty
โWhat is said or seen, is only a fraction of what is actually done!โ ~ Eli Baraty
It all started in the year 2000, when I, Eli Baraty, was offered my first table tennis coaching position at Kingโs College School in Wimbledon, London. That moment sparked a lifelong journey dedicated to the sport I love.
๐ Did You Know?
eBaTT was originally launched in 2013 as an auction company, co-founded with my good friend Loic Bobillier. While our ambitions were high, the website development proved too complex, and that version of eBaTT never fully materialised. But rather than give up, we pivoted, and eBaTT evolved into what it is todayโa global hub for elite table tennis coaching and development.
๐ง A Coach, Mentor & Consultant
Iโve always operated as a freelance table tennis coach, holding an ITTF Level 1 certification, and serving as a mentor, advisor, and consultant. Over the past 25 years, Iโve delivered:
โ
Private coaching
โ
Group training sessions
โ
National & international training camps
โ
Seminars & workshops
Through these experiences, I’ve worked with everyone from young beginners to elite national players, across the UK, Europe, and now worldwide. ๐

๐ From Player to Visionary Coach โ The Journey of Eli Baraty
When I was a player, my only goal was simple: defeat the person across the table. That competitive fire shaped me. But today, as a coach, my mission has evolved. I now strive to empower othersโto give every player I work with the tools, belief, and opportunities to become the best version of themselves. ๐ชโจ
โค๏ธ Coaching with Purpose and Passion
My journey as a coach is rooted in a deep desire to support and inspire. I am constantly developing my skills and focusing on becoming a truly holistic table tennis coachโone who teaches not only technique, but also mindset, resilience, and personal growth.
Every session I deliver is driven by care, commitment, and clarity. My passion for the sport runs deep, and so does my ambition.
๐ Building the Vision
My dream is to create a world-class table tennis instituteโa central hub that caters to players of all ages and skill levels, offering a clear pathway from beginner to elite. ๐ฏ
This vision started to take shape when I founded and developed the Harefield Table Tennis Academy. The system was designed to serve young players aged 11โ18, combining education with professional table tennis training.
I had plans to expand the programme by hiring a full-time coach to connect with surrounding schools. Local students would have been guided into a tailor-made sport and academic pathway, built around table tennis excellence.
The vision didnโt stop there. By forming a strategic link with Brunel University and continuing to grow our flagship club, eBaTT, the aim was to expand into a full-time, national-level training centre. ๐๏ธ
๐ฌ๐ง A Bold Dream for English Table Tennis
I truly believe England has the potential to become Europeโs leading table tennis nation. But to do that, we must build dedicated training centres, form structured development pathways, and invest in long-term talent progression.
Iโm committed to that visionโand every step I take is moving toward making it a reality.
๐ฅ Join me on this journey. Letโs build the future of English table tennis, together.
๐ Building the Future of Table Tennis โ The eBaTT Vision
Weโre on a mission to create a world-class table tennis centreโan inclusive hub built on an infrastructure that supports every player, no matter their age, level, or ambition.
Our vision is to build a sustainable, thriving ecosystem that includes:
โ
A full-time table tennis coach dedicated to developing the sport in local primary schools and clubs, creating a solid grassroots foundation.
โ
A direct pathway feeding into our elite-level eBaTT Table Tennis Academy, where players can progress with expert guidance.
โ
Strategic partnerships with local universities and corporate organisations to expand awareness, access, and opportunities within the sport.
โ
A structured, long-term development model that nurtures both hobby players and aspiring professionals.
๐ฏ This is more than just a centreโitโs a movement, a model for the future of English table tennis.
Whether you’re picking up a bat for the first time or training for international competition, our goal is to provide a supportive, high-performance environment that helps every player thrive.
๐ฅ Join us in shaping a new era for table tennis in England. The future starts here.

Eli Baratyโs Table Tennis History
My Journey 1996 โ 2025
๐ฌ Inspired by Forrest Gump โ The Beginning of My Table Tennis Journey
It all began in 1996 with a film that changed everything for meโฆ
Forrest Gump. ๐ฅ๐
That iconic scene where Tom Hanks lights up the table inspired me beyond words. Right then and there, I decided:
“Table tennis will play a huge part in my life.” ๐ฅ
๐ A Humble Start in Hendon
I picked up a bat and joined a small local club in Hendon, North-West London. It had just four Butterfly tables, but to me, it felt like the centre of the universe.
The club was run by a kind and passionate coach, Harold Ismaan. He taught me the basicsโ
โ
Forehand & backhand strokes
โ
Match play rules
โ
Real table tennis discipline
He also introduced me to the local league, which was my first taste of competitive play. Thatโs where the spark became a flame.
๐ Stepping Up to London Progress
Hungry for more, I moved on to London Progressโthen known as Englandโs top table tennis club. ๐
There, I was surrounded by the best players in the country and some of the top coaches in the game. I watched, I learned, and I evolvedโfast.
๐ซ๐ท Crossing Borders for Greatness
But my ambition didnโt stop there. I wanted to train in the best environment Europe had to offer.
That drive led me to Fontenay-sous-Bois, a prestigious club in France, known for producing elite talent. ๐
In France, I immersed myself in a professional training culture, surrounded by world-class athletes. I wasnโt just improving as a playerโI was laying the foundation to one day become a world-class coach.
๐ฅ From a Film to a Global Vision
That one moment in front of a TV screen became a lifelong journeyโone that took me from a tiny club in London to the high-performance halls of Europe.
Itโs not just about how you start… itโs about how far youโre willing to go. ๐ซ

๐ From Full-Time Player to Head Coach: My Journey in Table Tennis
My table tennis career has been a rollercoaster journey that started as a full-time player in Paris, France, where I aspired to become a ๐ World Champion. However, after a challenging experience with my club, my dream of becoming the worldโs best was put on hold. Despite this setback, I returned to England with a renewed sense of purpose and a new direction for my career.
๐ A New Chapter in Coaching at Kingโs College Wimbledon
Upon my return to England, I had the incredible opportunity to be coached by Gideon Ashison, who mentored me through the next phase of my career. Under his guidance, I grew both as a player and coach. This led to an exciting coaching opportunity at Kingโs College Wimbledon, where I served as a coach for 4๏ธโฃ years. This position provided me with invaluable experience, shaping my coaching style and helping me build a solid foundation for my future career.
๐ Taking the Next Step at Barnet Table Tennis Centre
My time at Kingโs College Wimbledon ultimately opened the door to a Head Coach role at the Barnet Table Tennis Centre. Here, my coaching career truly soared. I spent another 4๏ธโฃ years at Barnet TTC, where I guided players to numerous achievements, including ๐ Junior British League titles and selections for the ๐ฌ๐ง England squad. I was thrilled to see my players rise to prominence, with many achieving national recognition.
๐ Coaching Englandโs Future Stars
As my success continued, I was given the chance to coach the ๐ฌ๐ง England Youth Squad. This was a dream come true, as I worked with some of the finest young players in the country, including Liam Pitchford, Tin Tin Ho, and Sam Walker. Seeing these players thrive and reach international levels was an incredibly rewarding experience and a true testament to the hard work and dedication of my coaching.
๐ Head Coach at Harefield Table Tennis Academy
My track record and success led me to be headhunted for a prestigious position as Head Coach at the Harefield Table Tennis Academy. This role allowed me to create a full-time table tennis program alongside education at a ๐ซ public school with ๐๏ธ onsite boarding facilities. This unique opportunity combined my passion for table tennis with my desire to help shape the next generation of players both on and off the table.
Spreading table tennis knowledge and experience (FreeLance Table Tennis Coach)
After 16 years of extensive coaching experience and a diverse range of coaching opportunities, Iโve made the exciting decision to pursue a career as a Freelance Table Tennis Coach. ๐ This transition enables me to share my expertise and passion for the sport with players of all levels, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced competitor. ๐
I collaborate with top Table Tennis clubs ๐ค, organise immersive training camps, and am regularly invited as a guest coach ๐จโ๐ซ, both across England ๐ฌ๐ง and internationally ๐. My experiences at Barnet TTC, Table Tennis England and Harefield Table Tennis Academy
๐ฏ Unleashing Elite Talent: My Journey in Table Tennis Coaching
At the age of 22, driven by immense ambition, I set out on a mission to become the best. Much like my playing career, I firmly believed that if I couldnโt become a world-class player, I would dedicate myself to producing the next generation of top-tier athletes. My goal was to offer players an opportunity to reach the pinnacle of their potential through the finest coaching.
I poured my heart and soul into developing a wide array of talented players, many of whom went on to achieve incredible success. Among those Iโve had the privilege to mentor are:
๐ Tin Tin Ho โ Current England No.1 Senior
๐ฅ Ping Ho โ Former U13 No.2
๐ Connor Neenan โ Former U10 National Champion
๐ฅ Reece Tan โ Former England No.2 Cadet
๐ Guy Ben-Aroya โ Former England No.7 Junior
๐ฅ Imran Hussain โ Former England No.12 Junior & Top 30 Senior
๐ Zak Zilesnick (AKA Zak Abel) โ Former England No.1 U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17
๐ฅ Eden Fung โ Former England No.7 U13
Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of coaching for Table Tennis England ๐, further refining my skills and knowledge to provide the best training possible.
My unwavering dedication has always been to empower players to achieve their dreams, giving them the tools they need to rise above the competition and reach the elite levels of their sport. It is through my coaching and mentorship that many players have gone on to represent England on national and international platforms.

๐ Coaching the England Youth Squad: A Life-Changing Experience
At the age of 23, I was honored to be asked to coach the England Youth Squad, based at the prestigious Lilleshall National Sports Complex ๐ . I had the privilege of assisting and running coaching sessions once or twice a month over a span of 2 years. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and driven players in the country.
Players in that period included:
๐ Liam Pitchford โ England No.1 Senior
๐ฅ Gavin Evans โ European Cadet Champion
๐ Matt Ware โ England No.7 Senior
๐ Tin Tin Ho โ England No.1 Senior
๐ Zak Zilesnick โ England No.1 U17
๐ฅ Sam Walker โ England No.3 Senior
๐ Helshan Weerasinghe โ England No.1 U21
๐ Ross Wilson โ Para World Champion
This opportunity not only allowed me to hone my coaching skills but also gave me the chance to contribute to the development of future stars. The experience was a pivotal moment in my coaching career, helping me grow alongside the players I coached.
Harefield Academy
๐ A Comprehensive Table Tennis Program: Education Meets Elite Training
The Table Tennis Programme was designed to run alongside students’ education (ages 11-18) at THA (The Harefield Table Tennis Academy) ๐. This unique system allowed students to train during various parts of their school day, including:
Pre-school sessions ๐
PE lessons ๐
Free periods โณ
Small group or 1-2-1 coaching ๐งโ๐ซ
In addition, after-school group training sessions ๐ were incorporated to further enhance playersโ skills.
To extend the reach and development of the program, I expanded the initiative by offering table tennis coaching for local primary schools around the Harefield area ๐. This acted as a feeder programme, helping younger players build foundational skills before joining Harefield. The result was that players who chose to join Harefield School would already have a strong base, enabling them to elevate their skills and fast-track their development once they became part of the schoolโs table tennis programme. The School and its table tennis programme became ulta successful, winning over 10 national titles and finishing in 5th place at the World School Games 2012.

Sixth Form Table Tennis Academy
๐ Continuing Excellence: Sixth Form and University Pathways in Table Tennis
Students had the option to stay at Harefield for Sixth Form ๐, where we developed a bespoke Table Tennis Programme tailored to their needs. This program was designed to continue nurturing their development while balancing academic studies.
Upon reaching this stage, players were given the unique opportunity to link up with Brunel University ๐ซ, located locally to Harefield.
They had two options for their future:
Continue playing at Harefield and Brunel while attending university ๐๐
Pursue other personal options ๐ , with full support from the programme
This flexibility allowed each player to choose the path that best suited their goals, with unwavering support to help them succeed in both sport and life.
